There is a kit for this project available for purchase. I wanted to provide this in a video as it is often the very first project that people try to make with chainmaille. It is a one size fits most pattern and the jump rings are fairly large and easy to work with.
Here is another project that combines chainmaille and Shrinkets (shrinky dinks). Once you learn to make a basic weave, shouldn't you jazz it up with some custom additions? We think so. In this video, you will learn to make a Shaggy Loop Bracelet with Shrinket Feather Fans added in to give the piece more movement and flair. Supplies for Bracelet: based on size medium (6 1/2" wrist) 154 Jump Rings SQUARE 18g 3/16" - Gold 22 EPDM Rubber Orings 7.25mm - Cupcake Pink 132 Jump Rings SQUARE 18g 3/16" - Rose Pink 88 Jump Rings 18g 3/16" - Light Pink...
There is a PDF as well as a video here to show you how to make both types of bead caps and combine them into charms. See the written instructions for a Rhinestone Bead Cap here. This provides the supply list of what you will need. Below is a video to show you step by step how to make these items. First you'll learn to make Rhinestone Bead Caps, then, we'll switch gears and make some black and white bead caps with Shrinkets using mold from www.juliehaymaker.com
In this lesson, you will be using chainmaille techniques to create a pen topper. Then, apply EPDM rubber orings to the base of the pen to make a comfortable pen grip that adds even more color to the design. All materials for this project are available at www.beadmeastory.com The bonus lesson using Shrinkets as petals is inspired by designs from www.juliehaymaker.com You may print this FREE FLOWER PETAL TEMPLATE for use with the Shrinkets version of this pen.
